1. 請問能力測試怎麼收費? 我家9年級生不知道自己將來的方向，想測試一下，麻煩 email 告知，謝謝
Highlands能力測試是升學規劃的第一步, 也就是說如果參加我們升學規劃計畫的學生是不用另外付費作能力測試的. 如果你只要做能力測試我們是收美金800元 (很多大學生或社會人士都來找我們單作能力測試). 但是如果你參加我們任何其他的課程, 成為我們的學生, 我們就只收美金480元. Highlands 能力測試真的對學生的一生很有幫助喔!
请问能力测试的地点离旧金山最近的在哪里？另外，测试有中文的吗？谢谢。
能力測試是由網路進行的, 但必須要有一定的英文基礎才能做, 沒有中文版, 請接洽我們的分校. 謝謝!

Hi, Heidi. 我們的費用每年都有略微調漲, 12年級$2,500是南加州前年的收費, 中間已經調漲2次了. 如果你現在報名, 不做Highlands 能力測試, 我們就是算你是12年級生的費用, 跟九月報名的費用是一樣的. 實際上, 我們的費用在業界算是很低的但成功率是最高的.

Checked this year’s result (2013), it seems it is not as good as last year. Could you please share the reason behind this?
Hi, Lily. I am not sure how you came out with the conclusion that the results are not as good as last year. We do have higher acceptance rates for almost all the top 25 colleges compared to last year. If you are thinking about Stanford in particular, we did not turn in a lot of applications this time due to parents’ and students’ decisions. Also, we do not provide “scholarships” to high-achieving students to attract them to sign up with us. Some companies do that to create higher numbers of acceptances on the top schools. Nearly 1/4 of our students got accepted by UC Berkeley or better schools. I think that explains how much we have helped our students in overall results. Thank you!

市面上很多補習班教師都是大學剛畢業兼職，沒有全心投入工作。

Hi, Jeff. 基於篇幅, 我長話短說, 我們有五個人專職負責僱用老師及師資訓練. 而且由於我們分校多, 課程多, 我們的老師多為全職教學. 至於教學經驗是僱用時的一大必要的資格. 但是雖然他們都有教學經驗, 我們還是要求新僱用的老師必須通過我們的師資訓練. 謝謝!

我知道哈佛全方位分校很多，但請問各分校的老師每隔多久會聚集在一起，討論教材及分享教學經驗？
請問各科目的老師會一人分飾多角嗎？比如說化學老師可以教物理化學數學，歷史老師可以教英文歷史閱讀？
Jeff. 你好我們的老師每二,三個月會有師資訓練會議. 至於一人任教好幾個科目, 是有可能的. 因為有些老師的教育背景是有足夠的知識教授幾個課程, 我想這種安排並不算不恰當, Thanks!

I was wondering how many students is each HS2 college counselor in charge of? I remember in Ann’s seminar, she said that each of the 45 counselors at HS2 is in charge of approximately 15 students! (It was the slide when Ann was comparing the student-to-counselor ratio at different high schools in Socal near the end of the presentation…)
Hi, Jason. Each of our counselors is in charge of no more than 15 senior students. The rest of the younger students are distributed to each counselor, so the amount varies. Some counselors are in charge of research and development, so they may take less students. Thank you!
Do you turn away student who has lower GPA so you could keep your acceptance rate high?
Pardon my reaction. I think this is a ridiculous thought, and I feel a bit insulted that it would ever cross your mind. Yes, I am a business owner, but more importantly I am an educator. Please do not think of me in such a way that I would refuse to help others for my own benefit. Thank you.

I listen to 1300 AM radio show every Tuesday afternoon. And I do believe you are helping lots of kids with all the useful and important information. Therefore, I was so looking forward for our first appointment with one of your branch consoler. It is unfortunately that they called and turned us away few hours prior to the actual appointment due to my child’s low GPA. I am just trying to make sense from what happened.
We don’t ask for students’ GPAs over the phone before the initial meeting. I am not sure what actually happened in your case, but I am sure the cancellation was due to something else and was not caused by your child’s GPA. We do have some specific policies regarding the free initial meetings. For example, we only offer 1 free appointment for each student. If we find out the same student has already had a free meeting before, our staff will call and cancel the meeting. Anyway, you can leave your phone number if you need me to call you. Thank you!

Hello, I am Sasa, a 15 girl from Hong Kong.
I had been studying in a christian private high school for my freshman year in Seattle.
However where was only two AP classes and it was not cheap for a single-parent family.
Since I am a US citizen, I started to search a host family so I can go to a public high school, and use the money for preparing getting in a good university.
Finally I found a homestay located in Fremont.
The Guardian told me that i am going to apply Mission San Jose High School.
i did some research about the school, its a good school, but its a really competitive school too, right?
Also, i read the articles and watched the videos of http://chiangblog.com.
i feel so worry and I think i need a Prep. school to help me get in a good college in US.
Therefore, there is my long message and some questions. haha
1)What kind of education/classes i could get in HS2?
2)I would like to have more informations about the college admissions counseling program, (including the fee) so i can tell my mother about that.
3)My english level is still in ESL level 3 last school year, is it to late too start preparing and being hardworking?

Hi, Sarah. Like you said, admissions officers don’t only look at school grades and GPAs. There are so many other factors taken into consideration during the evaluation process. Students with relatively lower GPAs still have chances for admission into the top schools. However, these students’ chances are resultantly lower since you have a few Bs in your transcript. Thus, it is important to strategize your application to maximize your potential of achieving admission. Thank you!
