Eric Chiu, Lynbrook UPenn (RD-2015)

“HS2 helped me feel at home even though I was unfamiliar with the college application process. After all, the college application process is new to every high school senior. From the very first day at HS2, I was treated with a great amount of respect and worked with my counselor inside and outside the office. HS2 counselor would make sure I was on top of my college essays as well as my schoolwork by frequently checking up on me through email. Whenever I had a question about college, HS2 would be happy to answer it. HS2 even provided me with a summer internship at a software company where I was able to apply my academic knowledge to real-world applications. Giving me the opportunity to handle and work on my own project, this internship contributed to a large portion of my college application that would not have existed if it wasn’t for HS2. They organize the college application process into a clear, step-by-step formula that both the student and parent can understand. With HS2, college applications could not have been any easier.”

Eric Chiu’s Dad: (UPenn 2015)

Parent Testimony: “HS2’s counselors are very knowledgeable in the whole college application process.  For any question or concern, you will get a straight and correct answer to save you from making common mistakes.  As a parent, the counselor helped bridge my thoughts with my son’s ideas and set a successful strategy that maximized my son’s assets in college application.  During the consultation sessions, the counselor leads constructive discussions to consolidate my goals with my son’s needs without arguments (you know how the teenagers are).  There are just so many important decisions you have to make, and the counselor’s guidance help us make all the tough ones effectively.”

Andy K. Greeting from MIT (MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Dartmouth, Year of 2014) Millbrae

Hello HS2 Staff,

How have you been? Hopefully everything has been going great!

Life at MIT is difficult, but I definitely won’t be happier anywhere else. The coursework at MIT is definitely difficult–much more difficult than high school work. Probably can’t get expect to get too many A’s anymore! But at the same time, there so many great extracurricular activities (such as dance!) and student groups here, which serve to ease the stress a bit. It is quite a delicate balance, and finding that balance is part of my life as a MIT student.

I don’t remember how many schools that I got into, although I do know that number is more than 20. The most notable colleges that I got into were MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton, UPenn, Dartmouth, Swarthmore, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, Georgia Tech, Wesleyan, Harvey Mudd, University of Michigan, UC Davis.

Hs2 was definitely instrumental for me to gain acceptance into all these colleges. Sure, I did have the components necessary to be a candidate for these colleges, such as grades, extracurricular activities, etc. But at the same time, so does many students around the United States, and around the world. Hs2’s one-on-one college planning service was the factor that allowed my application to truly shine. Without the diligence of the Hs2 staff, especially my advisor’s, I would not have been able to get into these top colleges. I remember the endless nights that my counselor stayed with me in the office, and many other nights when he edited my many, many essays (at least 25-30 different supplements) via telephone correspondence. For sure, I am forever, forever grateful! And props to my SAT tutor at HS2, for helping me so much with the English sections (I was able to get an 800 in writing!).

All and all, the staffs here deserve so much praise. Their knowledge and their diligence to serving high students are quite unparalleled, and I highly recommend HS2 to aspiring college students!

Thanks, and good luck!

Michael Lee (Harvard, RD-2015) Millbrae

I can’t imagine going through the college process without Hs2. My counselor definitely presented the reality of the process to me, even when I didn’t like it. She helped me narrow down the number of colleges I applied to, and guided me in researching those that I liked. Although I had decent activities and grades, I had no idea how to present myself to colleges on paper. My counselor kept me on track; she set deadlines, and sent me emails to make sure I met those deadlines. She knew what colleges wanted to see, and helped edit my essays and activity descriptions to make sure that I shone. By the time most of my friends were starting their college essays, I was in the final stages of editing mine. As a result, I had time to focus on school and extracurricular activities, which only got more intense further along in my senior year. Hs2 helped me make the most efficient use of my time, while also providing me with the tools to be effective. The dream that I have always had is becoming a reality, and I couldn’t have done it on my own.

J.Y. Parent Recommendation (RD, U of Chicago -2015) Cupertino

My daughter joined HS2 counseling programs since she was in 9th grade. She took the Highlands ability test and knew exactly what she wanted to study in college. Throughout her application session, my daughter had so many ideas for her essay but could not efficiently translate them into an acceptable essay. He kept changing his ideas and felt uneasy to meet the deadlines. With the help and support from his HS2 counselor, the application process became stress-free and very effective. She finished all of her essays before the deadlines with weekly meetings with her essay editor counselor at HS2 and numerous emails exchanges. No matter what kind of problems he encountered during the college application session his counselor was always there to give him a hand and reassured her was not alone in this process. With all the planning and guidance, the college process was very easy. She was able to maintain all of his extracurricular activities and also achieve good grades. Therefore we believe that without her counselor, my daughter would not have been accepted into her dream college. I really appreciate all her counselor has done for him to help him to achieve his dream. So, I highly recommend HS2 for all students and parents.

Erica

Erica’s testimonial:
My experience here has been absolutely amazing. The counselors has definitely helped me through every step of the college application process and they even got me into some of the top schools that I never could have gotten into on my own like Princeton. I’m absolutely ecstatic about the results and basically every step in this program -counselors were extremely helpful, they were very personable and just awesome to work with. I wish I started HS2 earlier, just because I feel like that would help me in laying out my high school coursework as well as extracurricular activities and help me maximize my time in high school, but I’m definitely glad that I joined, even late as I did since they definitely just helped me in everything, even beyond just essay editing. They walked me through the Common App, helped me fill out scholarship forms, help me brainstorm ideas for my essay, they helped me customize a list of colleges that were good for my major as well as any possible other majors or minors that I would have done. So I definitely recommend HS2 to anyone who is considering.
—Accepted by Pomona College, Dartmouth, Amherst College, University of Chicago, Washington University (St. Louis), USC, Emory, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UCSD, UCI

Pomona College, Amherst College and University of Chicago 。

– Rachel 被 U Penn(賓州大學), U of Chicago (芝加哥大學), UC Berkeley, UCLA, USC, UCSD 錄取!

BRANDON SIM, ACCEPTED TO HARVARD UNIVERSITY

“Thank you HS2 for ALL the time you’ve put in to help me get into the colleges I’ve always dreamed of. My counselor at HS2 has kept me organized, aware of deadlines, and helped me display my full potential to the top colleges I’ve applied to. Without her help I would be nowhere near where I am today. Go HS2!”

BRYAN HUANG, ACCEPTED TO NORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY EARLY DECISION

“Before meeting with my HS2 counselor, I was extremely low in confidence and had no idea what next step to take. I was very anxious about not getting into any good colleges. Luckily, I had the HS2 counseling team supporting me when I needed help, offering me innovative ideas for a better college application. People at HS2 are so friendly and motivating, always easing my stress by being cool and effective. In short, I have had a really great time with HS2, one that I will always find memorable. With help from HS2, I completed and received my acceptance for Northwestern University by Early Decision. HS2 has helped me gain a huge amount of self-confidence, both socially and academically, and I will never again doubt myself. I always remind myself that HS2 has trained me well. Thank you HS2!”

CHUNG-JEN CHEN, ACCEPTED TO YALE UNIVERSITY

“Yes, you guys get TWO thumbs up. Everyone at HS2 was extremely helpful, helping me with my essays even until 1:00 in the morning (Thanks Terri Ann, sorry for those late-night meetings!) Even though Terri Ann was my assigned counselor, several other counselors helped with my essays. The care and time that they put into reading my essays was simply astounding. The counselors really cared about my future, making sure that the colleges I applied to were the best choice for me. But they were accommodating towards my opinions on my essays also, allowing me to keep certain parts of my essays that I had wanted. Thank you, HS2!”

LARRY FAN, ACCEPTED TO WHARTON BUSINESS SCHOOL (U PENN) EARLY DECISION, SAT I = 2300

“HS2 has helped me accomplish things that I could only dream of 2 years ago. It is an absolute lifesaver. I joined HS2 during the end of my sophomore year through the 3-in-1 program, which allowed me to not only benefit from the counseling, but also take SAT classes and enroll in an unlimited number of SAT II prep classes and AP prep classes. The teachers here helped me raise my SAT score from 1900 to 2300 through the summer SAT course, and at the same time, HS2’s Math IIC course helped me earn an 800 as well as a 760 on SAT II US History.  The counselors here are very knowledgeable and dedicated. Through my counselor, I was able to take the best courses at my high school, attend a summer program at my dream school, perfect my college application and essays, and prepare for interviews. All in all, HS2 helped shape me to become an attractive candidate for prestigious universities. My dream school, the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania, recently admitted me. I could not have accomplished this feat without the help of all the counselors, teachers, and staff at HS2.”

BRIAN KIM, 2011

“I have come to realize that HS2 is not just an academy; it’s a refuge for those longing for relief, longing for friendship, even longing for a home. HS2 not only enriched my knowledge of all fields, but also sculpted my future, expanded my communication skills, and most importantly, enhanced my self-identity. My SAT and ACT scores SPROUTED and my GPA reached numbers I’ve never thought possible. Teachers at HS2 made me realize that studying wasn’t all about competition and pain, but rather about the fun of gaining new skills in different fields. HarvardSquare2 was my sword and shield; without it, my accepted list would be pretty lonesome.”

CAROLYN KIM, 2011

“I would not have been able to accomplish this much thus far without the support and guidance of HS2. I am completely appreciative and grateful for all the encouragement and assistance I have received from my counselor. She really has done great wonders for me, considering how I had high doubts in terms of getting into college. I can honestly admit how worried and agitated I was from the strenuous work of college applications that was to come as I entered my senior year of high school. But with the help from the amazing staff here at HS2, I did it! I received news about HS2 from a college fair that was held in Fullerton and had doubts at first–thinking I would do fine without the help of a college counselor. Yet, I am seriously glad I decided to stick through with it. I got accepted into more colleges than I ever expected, and I am leaving HS2 with feelings of satisfaction and confidence for the future.”

PARENT TESTIMONY, APRIL 2011

Thanks HS2 Academy for helping my child get into the ideal colleges and helping us achieve our goals as parents in coming to America.  My child attends Troy and had straight As, so we believed a college advising service was not necessary for us since he should have no problem getting into a top notch college on his own. Furthermore, there are many such college counseling services that seem exaggerated and fake, so we had a negative image.

However, three years ago, after hearing Ann Lee’s and Ms. Chiang’s Tuesday radio show introducing current college admissions situation, I realized that my initial ideas were not up to date. It seems that top notch colleges have very high expectations for extracurricular activities, especially for Asian students. After visiting many different college advising institutions, we were touched by Ann Lee’s and Ms. Chiang extensive knowledge and sincere desire to help students.

In the past three years, under Ann Lee’s passionate guidance, my child not only fully understood the key to getting to a top college; but also gained much personal development, clarity in his future educational pursuits, and a deep understanding of society. During this period, he also completed 200 volunteer hours at a hospital, service to the community, and developed his leadership skills and talents (created and produced his own music CD). He even took initiative to seek internship opportunities which landed positions at three top universities throughout three summers. During this process, he learned many valuable skills; taking opportunities into his own hands, writing his personal statement, gaining interview skills, and how to market himself. Most importantly, he nurtured his inner spirit to help society. These foundational skills and ethics will give him a fruitful future. HS2 Academy is not only a necessity for academic guidance, but also serves as a communication bridge between students and parents. Parents’ opinions and advice may better reach their children with the help of counselors, especially during the rebellious teenage years of a child.

Even though I am happy that my child has entered an ideal college, I cannot help but feel regret for other parents. Many students of similar educational caliber and family background were only able to enter UC Berkeley or like-level colleges because they did not seek professional college admissions counseling. One can say that this is unfair to the students who do not have college admissions counselors; but then again, what parent would not want to give the best to their children?  I want to thank HS2 Academy again for their active guidance and my wife’s support, resulting in a change in my original stubborn ideas.

Alicia Zheng Webb School I have a long list of gratitudes and much of it is overdue, but I really just wanted to say thank HS2 so much for being the best mentor, guide, adviser, and all that good stuff. HS2 may have started as a college counselor, but it’s become so much more than that over these past four years. I just wanted to let HS2 know that I’m definitely at the place that I should be and thank HS2 for it, because they helped me get here.
J.J.T. Arcadia High School HS2 was great. HS2 helped me with my homework, how to manage my time, and helped me completely with the whole college application process. Richard helped me with almost all of my math questions and guided me through them and taught me how to do them step by step. He assisted me through all my questions really well and helped me further understand the lesson.

Without HS2 I think I would have been really confused on what to do with the whole application. All the counselors guided me through the whole process step by step, so that I have no errors.

Y.P. Arroyo High School Definitely a thumbs up! The counselors are genuinely here to help you because they actually care about your future. I’m a major procrastinator, but the staff kept me in check! With Molly, not only did I get guidance regarding college admissions but with every choice I made I knew I wasn’t going to regret it with her support and advice. She asked the hardest questions, and it really made me think about things that I didn’t even know that was important before. So thank you Molly for being so loving and expanding my knowledge! I did not expect to get accepted to Berkeley or wait-listed by U-Chicago, but I feel like I belong and will have great opportunities there.
E.S. Arcadia High School HS2 really pushed me to finish my essays on time and motivate me to put my best self forth. I learned much more about myself than I ever expected to, and I was able to fully deconstruct myself during workshops with the essay editors. Crystal really pushed me to do better and exceed my limits, staying with me to finalize my essays even when workshops were long over. I never could have been able to finish everything without her input and advice. Having multiple people look over my essays and give their input allowed me to see my flaws in other essays, which aided me when deadlines were approaching. In my later essays, I knew what to avoid and what to highlight, which boosted my self-confidence, knowing that I was really beginning to know my true self and what I am capable of. Being at HS2 was truly a learning experience and I do not regret signing up for college counseling here.
D.J. Arcadia High School HS2 has helped me tremendously throughout the application season! I don’t know where I’d be without them! They kept me on right on track so that I finished my essays well ahead of time. Molly was very insightful and understood me as a person and student very well. She was very helpful in guiding me throughout the process whether it be college selection or interview training. Her advice was very constructive and helped me boost my application significantly. All the editors are a great help and understand how you want to express yourself. Overall, HS2 has been a godsend and a truly appreciate their services!
G.S. Arcadia High School The counselors at HS2 are some of the most diligent, patient, and kind people I have ever met. They truly bring out the best in each student for colleges to realize. Their timing and scheduling motivated me to get on top of my game, and they know the workings of the college application process inside out while all the while maintaining the utmost respect and appreciation for their students. Molly is a wonderful counselor and person. She always works so hard to help students, even at her own expense. Her patience is superhuman. I truly appreciate HS2’ valuable help and genuine care for their students and can’t recommend this institution enough.
A.Y. Arcadia High School It’s too difficult not to be overwhelmed by the college application process. HS2 definitely lessened my apprehension with its helpful and strategic planning for school classes, testing, extracurricular activities, and deadlines. They break everything down into manageable stepping-stones that will ultimately lead to success. Among the frenzy and flurry of college selection, maintaining grades, and writing essays, I am grateful to have HS2 with me through not only admissions, but a journey of self discovery. Looking back, I can’t imagine my college application process without Molly’s help and guidance. Her expertise definitely eased my anxiety and made me confident about the results. I am forever grateful for her dedication to her students!
S.H. Arcadia High School HS2 Academy has helped me greatly in my journey to college! They have helped me through all the obstacles for applying to colleges. I was really lost and clueless about a lot of the college application procedures until I came to HS2 Academy and got college counseling. Not only that, but also the classes they offer helped me with my schoolwork.
R.S. Arcadia High School HS2 has been very helpful in both SAT tutoring and the college application process. Dax is always helpful and willing to guide students down the correct path, and I think HS2 is doing an excellent job with their SAT and college prep programs. All the teachers are doing an excellent job. They are patient and ready to teach!

The counselors are very helpful; they have helped many students succeed, and they never give up because they care deeply about the students and want them to succeed. They make sure students are prepared and are always willing to give advice and answer difficult questions. The staff is very knowledgeable and goes above and beyond what they are required to do. They make classes interesting while at the same time preserve the educational integrity of the class.

C.H. San Marino High School I am thankful for HS2 because the counselors forced me through an arduous process I otherwise would not have worked as hard on. Although I would not say I enjoyed the experience, I will say that there would be no way I would have gotten into the schools I had without their help. My counselor was extremely supportive and pushed me to do things I didn’t want to do, but ended up benefiting me greatly, like applying for BU RISE, a summer research internship at Boston University.
S.X. Temple City High School HS2 is a great source of information, especially for college applications. COSMOS UCSD was an amazing summer opportunity that I would have otherwise missed. Without the financial aid seminars, I would have never known about the steps that were necessary until it was too late. The essay editors also helped a lot when it came to the actual writing, and they are definitely a solid part of the reason I was able to be accepted into my college. I am very glad for this program and its aid in my high school career.
M.S. Arcadia High School HS2 helped me navigate through high school and college applications. It really helped me answer confusing questions and motivate me to actually do my applications. I felt like I was ahead for my application season and didn’t have to stress out too much about deadlines. My counselor is pretty awesome, and she actually cares about me and my personal health, not just academics. She’s really helpful in answering questions. She made pretty good plans and goals for me to reach, and never really gave up on me.
D.W. Arcadia High School HS2 gets thumbs up; I never knew that I could get into these colleges. Whenever I needed help with homework, projects, or tests, there would always be a teacher to provide assistance. The counselors were also great for their counseling in high school classes and encouragement to thrive.

The best part of HS2 is the college admissions counseling. It really opened my eyes to what each college has to offer and helped me decide which colleges I should apply to. Thank you, HS2, for all the high school and college admissions guidance.

A.H. Flintridge Preparatory School HS2 prevented me from getting lost among the confusing deadlines and dates. Every time I came in, I left with an important essay finished, or an organized list of vital tests and community service organizations to sign up for. The counselors are highly adept experts committed to helping you get into the best university you have in mind, and keep you at a constant pace so that you don’t fall behind or make big mistakes along the way. Overall, I am grateful for all the mentoring and counseling I received, and would not have had as great results with the college process if I had done this on my own.
A.Y. Arcadia High School Throughout such a stressful process of balancing extra-curricular, ACT practices and the endless amount of work from school, HS2 counseling has never let me down when I needed a boost. Not only were the teachers here very amiable and helpful, but also the counselors were committed to us as much as we were committed to them. They helped me through ups and downs, and even if it was an irrelevant situation to them they were always happy to aid for the best of the students. The HS2 counselors have definitely gotten me where I needed to go in the end and have become both my mentors and my friends.
J.S. Arcadia High School With all the stress from homework, tests, and projects, I definitely have been out of focus most of the time, and HS2 did a great job pulling me back on track and pushing with me through those hard times. When I first applied, I thought it was just an ordinary after-school program with the usual routine of finishing homework and socializing. However, that has changed to being my second home, with a friendly environment, energetic students, and most importantly, helpful and caring teachers and staffs. My counselor did what she could to help us: she has been there when I needed her, giving me life guidance and helpful encouragements. Overall, she’s great, loving, friendly, and she knows what she’s doing. In the classroom, Paul and Neal are both very entertaining and helpful, and they have inspired and encouraged me in many different ways. I would definitely recommend applying!
K.S. South Pasadena High School Great counselors and teachers that are extremely reliable and supportive. Would definitely recommend to other students.
Yee Yee Ho San Marino High School I have only been at HS2 Academy for just a few months, but I really like the staff here. They all really want to help the students from the bottom of their hearts. I feel that HS2 provides a really friendly and comfortable environment for the very stressful application process. My counselor is Helena – she is the best! She’s really dedicated, and I think it shows in the hours she puts in each student. I think HS2 is a great place for people who needed a little direction. Even though I was lost and had my own way of doing things, HS2 valued my wishes, pointed me towards a direction, and supported me all the way!
Joyce Pan Oxford Academy The college counseling at HS2 Academy is really worth it. My counselor, Joanna, supported me through the entire process from choosing colleges to celebrating acceptances. Joanna not only guided me academically but also became a good friend I could trust. Without her help and the help of the rest of the staff, I wouldn’t have finished my apps as efficiently. I definitely recommend coming here and asking for Joanna, but all the other counselors are great, too!
Carolina Chu Beckman High School HS2 is great. I went there for tutoring for a few years but the best part was the college counseling. My counselor Joanna was awesome. She is super nice and she really helped me to narrow my college lists and she kept me on track to finish all of my essays on time! I don’t think I would have been able to finish all my apps on time without her and the rest of the HS2 staff. All of us there are a bit like an extended family. They’re amazing!!
Oliver Chen Los Alamitos High School From my own personal experience, HS2 is the most inviting educational institution I have ever been to. I have been attending this academy for the past 6 years for everything from PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP prep. My tutor Vickie Mach has been incredible and truly cares about how well I grasp the material. I have also had college counseling which has been incredibly rewarding and helpful. My counselor Joanna was incredibly insightful when it came to advising me on how to get the most out of my activities, talents, and abilities. The help I received while writing college essays has greatly enhanced my writing abilities. HS2 Academy’s amazing support and guidance has made me both a better scholar and individual, ready for my future college endeavors. Thank you HS2!
Caroline Sun Temple City High School Definitely a thumbs up because I remembered telling the staff and my counselor, Molly, that Boston University was my number one dream school. I still can’t believe I was able to get in. With the help of my counselor and the encouraging staff, I was able to achieve my dreams and goals. I’m so excited to start my new life there! I think overall HS2 has been a great experience. I’ve come to grow close with my counselor, my peers, and teachers. I just wished I had started this program a lot earlier! If I had, I possibly would have exceeded my expectations and achieved even more. I am so thankful for everything! Thank you so much for your time, commitment, and passion in helping students achieve their dreams!
C.C. Walnut High School When I first started high school, I was so intimidated by and confused about what I needed to do in order to make the most of my 4 years and get into college. These past 2-3 years, my counselor has pushed and guided me towards doing things that I wouldn’t have done otherwise, like contacting professors for internships or going to Costa Rica for GlobalWorks (an experience which I loved!) My counselor has helped me develop a mindset of taking initiative, and I’ll definitely take this mindset into college. I honestly don’t know where I would be today without HS2. Sure, there were some tough, stressful times, but we got through it and I think it was all worth it in the end. If I could do it all again — not that I want to! — I wouldn’t have changed a thing. I am really happy with the results, and I can’t wait for the next 4 years!!
Y.X. Lynbrook High School Daniel was the best counselor I could have ever had. I really appreciate his help and everyone else from HS2. You guys got me into my dream school, Duke, and I’ll never forget that.
Melinda Lou Chen Irvine High School HS2 was the driving force of my success with school and admissions to colleges. The tutors available were always open to help and explain homework problems thoroughly with a positive attitude. Although you’d expect HS2 tutoring to be ineffective because the ages of student vary, it was actually a very comfortable learning environment. I would definitely recommend this program to those who seek academic help!
George Su Edison High School HS2 is an awesome place for students to learn and get the help they need. I preferred my SAT classes here to the ones I would have taken at other institutions because of the more relaxed environment of HS2 and less stringent teachers. I feel the most important thing for students who are already stressed enough from their high school workloads is a comfortable work environment, where they can get help from both their teachers and their peers when they need it and take breaks when they feel they need to. This is exactly what HS2 provided for me, as opposed to other tutoring places, namely Elite, which I have heard merely grinds information into students’ heads. Additionally, the teachers here at HS2 taught me lots of things that teachers at schools would not have the opportunity to do, such as providing sermons on topics ranging from life lessons and philosophy to providing random fun facts about pop culture and current events.
Vincent Yang Northwood High School HS2’s counselors are highly experienced and resourceful. Besides helping with college applications and editing essays, they use their connections to help students attain internships and volunteer activities that are essential to their social growth. The program is aimed at preparing students for college, and early on, counselors are assisting with scheduling tests and setting score goals to stimulate students to higher and higher aspirations. There are also various seminars that clear up many questions that students may have about the college application process, and also ease the transition to college life. HS2 counselors have an abundance of knowledge about systems such as Common Application, Naviance, and the UC website. This group of experienced counselors is essential to any aspiring student hoping to achieve the best out of their high school career.
Angela Yunge Guo Trabuco Hills High School Coming to the United States only in my sophomore year of high school, I would not have gone to UC Berkekey without the help of HS2. Being in the 3in1 program, I was able to receive the best counseling from my primary counselor. I could still remember vividly the times when my counselor and I stayed till 3am in the morning working on my college essays. This is how dedicated the counselors here are. The best thing about the 3-in-1 program is that I was able to receive holistic help, ranging from all the AP, SAT and ACT classes provided by HS2 to finally my college application essays. Without HS2, I would not have gone this far.

Dan does everything fast and accuate! The best thing about Dan is that you get the most out of every meeting because she works really fast and comes up with unique ideas to brighten up your application. When working on college essays, she gives the best ideas on the essays topics and she edits your essays carefully and diligently. Don’t be angry or disappointed if she asks you to rewrite your entire essay! She simply wants the best thing out of you!!

Jaclyn Wu Northwood High School HS2 most definitely gets a thumbs up! I not only liked the summer school classes here, but their regular/AP classes here over the school year also helped too. Also, the HS2 applications process is a marvelous tool to the high school student, in that it not only lifts a great amount of relief off of one’s shoulders during the school year, but also opens a greater perception of the entire world of colleges just waiting to be picked.
K.C. University High School HS2 had helped me write application essay and find colleges that best suit me. I do not know where I would be standing if I did not join HS2 program. I am very satisfied with my results. I had great unique strategy. My counselor told me exactly what I needed and what I needed to improve on.
C.H. Irvine High School Thank you so much for your counseling and guidance. Without your help, Cornell would have been just a dream. I will do my best to create a positive difference in the world.
D.J.W. Murrieta Valley High School HS2 is the best investment any parent could make for their child! What I found most valuable at HS2 is the faculty. The fact that every teacher and counselor has went to these prestigious schools and have at one point in time been in the same situation that I was going through which made it easy to work with them. But what was most helpful is the admission process that HS2 guides you through. Writing essays has never been my strong point, but the counselors are highly experienced and helped me step by step through the application process with minimal stress.
C.C. Troy High School HS2 get TWO thumbs up. Thank you, HS2!
B.S. Diamond Bar High School Thank you HS2 for ALL the time you’ve put in to help me get into the colleges I’ve always dreamed of. My counselor at HS2 has kept me organized, aware of deadlines, and helped me display my full potential to the top colleges I’ve applied to. Without her help I would be nowhere near where I am today. Go HS2!
B.H. Walnut High School HS2 has helped me so much in both school and life. All the staff members here are so friendly and caring that they make this place my second home. What I really like about them is that they know how to take things seriously in a professional manner; however, at the same time, they do not forget their quirky sense of humor, which really makes everything A LOT more interesting. HS2 should keep doing what they are doing!
Ken Zhiyuan Zheng Sage Hill High School The college application process was a very daunting and confusing picture for me in the beginning of my high school years. However, with my counselor’s guidance and help, I quickly became familiarized with the processes and gained enough confidence to apply to those dream colleges I’ve always wanted to apply to. And thanks to them, I’ve gotten accepted into the many of my top choice colleges.
M.D.Y. University High School I think that HS2 has done a wonderful job preparing students from their freshman year (and even earlier) for their future in college and beyond. From their counseling advice to their working teachers and tutors in the study rooms and classrooms, HS2 had provided an exceptional study environment for students to thrive and progress in. The idea of creating a “homework room” where students are free to come in and ask questions any time, for any subject, is a great program in which students do not have to be limited to the subject of the classroom for them to get their problems or inquiries resolved. Though this institution may be strict in their classroom policies I believe that it is only a minor defect in the overall program. All in all, however, Harvard Square’s dedication to helping students outside of school in all academic areas, including counseling and college preparation, has been an overall success for both the company and students themselves.
R.W. Northwood High School The HS2 counseling program helped me with picking essay topics, organizing various applications, picking colleges to apply to and the college application process in general. I feel that it would have been difficult to organize and edit all the essays and documents by myself and having someone to guide me and keep me on track was extremely helpful. My counselor did a very good job helping me with editing, writing and organizing everything while helping me keep calm during the stressful couple of months.
T.N. Northwood High School I started the counseling program at HS2 in junior year. By working with my counselor, I was able to successfully choose right classes for junior year and get lots of support on the college essays and choosing right colleges. I was able to finish my college applications on time by e-mailing and meeting with my counselor frequently.
Joanne Chen Aliso Niguel High School I’m happy that I came to HS2: the classes and the counseling really helped me achieve what I wanted. I received great advice and the classes were both fun and you would actually learn. The other students here were very nice and the faculty was very friendly. Without HS2, I don’t think that I would’ve gotten in the colleges I had in mind, my dream colleges! They help so much with motivation and endurance, and in the end, it will all pay off. Thank you HS2!
Alice Wang Marina High School I’ve attended SO many different tutoring centers and have checked out MORE than my fair share of counseling centers as well, but I can honestly say that NONE can beat HS2, or even match up to it. I arrived reluctant to give up the summer of my sophomore year for SAT classes, but I realized that I had no other choice. The opinion I had of HS2 rapidly changed from distaste to LOVE. I know it’s bold to say that, but not only were the classes structured in a way that encouraged a learning environment, but the teachers, fellow students, and administration were nothing but helpful. I realized after a couple of weeks, that I didn’t dread attending HS2, I actually looked forward to it everyday. I had only planned to attend 7 weeks of the 10 week SAT intensive boot camp, but I left completing 9, with new friends, new life counselors (teachers), and new tools that would ensure my success in the upcoming year. In the summer of my junior year of high school, I came back for the counseling program. The program kept me on task, organized, and ahead of the game. While most of my friends were still deciding where to apply to, I was completing my essays and sending in my applications. My counselor, Catherine was intimidating at first, but I have come to realize that not only is she extremely helpful, but she is also one of the funniest, most realistic, and best people I have ever met. To all of her students, she is not only a counselor, but also a friend, and she goes to any distance to do what she knows is best. Though I say this of Catherine, I mean this for many of the teachers here at HS2 also. I think the reason why HS2 has flourished is not because the students here are different, but because the teachers are willing to be a friend to the students they teach. Overall, on a scale of 10, I give HS2 an 11, because not only has it done all it can to fit the needs of the students they assist, but it has gone above and beyond what has been expected by the parents and the students. I have no regret for the hundreds of hours I have spent here, because in the end, it all paid off. I made friends that will last a lifetime, got the grades that helped me succeed in so many ways, and gained acceptance to my 1st choice college, Scripps. Thank you HS2, thank you so much!
Coco (Ke) Wang Diamond Bar High School HS2 is a place that can make you shine if you’re willing to take it. I love their 3-in-1 program that offered me both the opportunity to take any class, for school and testings, and to take advantage of the counseling program that helped me greatly on building up a profile that’s suitable for my major and stands out among applicants. They offer the right acceleration to college admission for students that are aiming high. =)
S.C. Fountain Valley High School HS2 made my college application process so much easier! From holding essay workshops to building recommendation letter packages, the aid my counselor provided to me was invaluable.
A.H. Woodbridge High School HS2 definitely helped! My counselor helped me a lot with the questions that I had and helped to control my stress level during the excruciating application process. Not to mention, HS2 helped boost my own confidence in my own achievements which was then reflected in my college

applications.

C.T. University High School HS2 gets a thumbs up from me. I got a lot of help for college app planning, sat, essays, etc. I especially thank Ms. Jung for helping me come up with all the ideas for my essays. I’d also like to thank Mrs. Wen for always being so encouraging. Thank you guys for all the advice I have received and thanks for all the colleges that I have been accepted into!
Willis Wung Beckman High School HS2 helped me out a lot during the application process. The counselors and teachers put in extra effort to ensure that all the students are able to achieve high standards and meet great expectations.
Akhil Gupta Chino Hills High School HS2 was a tremendous boon in my path to college. They assisted me with everything from securing internships to giving life guidance. I sent them countless revisions to my essays and came to many workshops and was always met with a helpful and constructive response. They really make you feel like they care about you and your success not only academically but also as a human being.
A.T. University High School Thank you so much for everything. With your suggestions and advice, I was able to overcome each situation right away. Thank you.
Tricia Wang Fairmont Preparatory School Thumbs up. I did spend so much time here that it ended up feeling pretty everyday, but I improved quite a lot; slowly but surely.
Angela Bi Troy High School The Counselors at HS2 are extremely helpful. They offered me useful advices and answered all my college related questions. College application process is a very painful experience, but with their helps, I was able to get through it.

Thank You, guys!

Jonathan Yang Ayala High School Two thumbs up for all the help

and support that HS2 had provided me over this last year! When I first joined the counseling program here at HS2, I just came from a bad Junior year and I went in thinking UCI was my best bet. I thought anything higher was out of the question, but when I met my counselor, she helped me helped me through my senior year and college applications. I ended up getting into UCLA and NYU, schools that no one, not even my family and I, ever thought possible for me, but with the guidance of my counselor and the counseling program here, I was able to exceed my expectations during the admission process. I advise any parent to put their child in HS2’s counseling program as soon as possible. Thank you HS2 for everything you have done for me!

Justin Han Los Altos High School HS2 helped me a lot through out my college application process as well as the last push in my SAT preparation.

Before HS2, I took SAT at ACI Institution and the scores were around 18 and 1900. After a summer worth of lessons and tests at HS2, I managed to some how achieve the score of 2110. HS2 also encouraged me to take the ACT as well; and after a few weeks of mock test and studying alone, I got a score of 31 on my September ACT test.

When it came to counseling, Catherine helped me every step of the way. I was oblivious and only knew about cliché schools like the UCs and the Ivy Leagues. It was Catherine who told encouraged me to research on other campuses like Boston Colleges and New York University.

Overall, my experience at HS2 was fun and educational.

Bo Kyung (Sarah) Kim Claremont High School Up until my friend recommended me to HS2’s college counseling program, I never knew that I could receive such meticulous planning and help. From the college selection process to summer internships, HS2 has given me careful instructions and advice. As a result, I was able to finish the college admissions process with ease and enthusiasm. I am very grateful to all the teachers and counselors that helped me through this difficult process. Now, I am able to attend the college I want to go to!
A.K. South Hills High School HS2 was helpful in making the college application process easier. The test prep and advising were effective in helping me reach my goals. The staff was friendly and were almost always available for help.
Brian Kim Beckman High School I have come to realize that HS2 is not just an academy; it’s a refuge for those longing for relief, longing for friendship, even longing for a home. HS2 was my sword and shield; without it, my accepted list would be pretty lonesome.
Eric Kang Troy High School HS2 has done me a great service. It has gotten me into my dream university. I am your average student. Like many others, I applied to a cornucopia of colleges/universities, thinking that applying would be a piece of cake. Boy was I wrong. The application process was long and arduous. There were many times when I had thought of giving up. But then I joined HS2. Under their guidance and watchful eye, not only was I able to fly through my nine applications, I finished ahead of all my peers! I was basically done with my applications before the middle of November. While tough from time to time, it was obvious the guidance counselors sincerely cared for my well-being. The people there almost felt like a second family to me. They gave me many great suggestions, and dramatically made my life easier. I had more time to concentrate on school and could feel the ease of not having any applications under my skin. I truly value my time at HS2; I believe they played a great part in bringing out the best of my potential. I feel more confidant than before, and I can more clearly see the road ahead of me.
Shelly Lu Rancho Cucamonga High School Harvard Square helped me understand my chances of getting into the different colleges of my interest and learn about the application process. Ultimately, I want to thank my counselor for pulling all-nighters to help me with my essays. THANK YOU!!
N.W. Rancho Cucamonga High School HS2 has helped me so much with the college application process and has provided me with the best possible environment in which to work on my essays. Even though I live half an hour away, I always came here every chance I got because I looked forward to being here so much. I knew I had a lot of essays to write and I would have never gotten any of them done without HS2. Here, surrounded by interesting students that were going through the same process as I, I made new friends, and with the help of my counselor, who was always so hilarious, the college application process just transformed from a stressful, “I don’t think I’ll survive”-process into one of the most memorable few months of my life. I am so thankful that I never had to worry about time management or whether my essays were good enough, because I had HS2.
Joshua Chen Diamond Bar High School Before my Dad enrolled me in HS2, I had no intentions of working hard in high school and going to college. I was a freshman with terrible grades and a lack of motivation. At first, I was very reluctant in attending the long SAT preparation classes HS2 provided. However, as the first year slowly passed, I made many new friends and teachers here at HS2 who inspired me to get back on my feet and work hard to excel in high school. Ever since, my academics have greatly improved. Nonetheless, I wouldn’t have been able to achieve any of this without the help of my two sensational counselors, Catherine and Shafiq. HS2 has truly been a wonderful assistance throughout my high school life. Thanks to the guidance of all the people at Harvard Square, I’M GOING TO COLLEGE. =)
Brian Shih Ayala High School I know for a fact I could not have gotten into the colleges I applied to without the help of my teachers and my counselor, Catherine <3, especially. I messed around a lot in high school and my GPA should have dropped me from the majority of my dream schools and mid level schools, but it didn’t. SWAG. With the help of my ACT teachers, Jennifer and Jon, junior year I was able to raise my ACT scores by almost five points. The teachers are student friendly and very supportive of you and your dreams. Teachers are excellent and my experience at Harvard Square has been far better than any other tutor areas like Elite, ACI, Lee’s Review, Princeton’s Review. Teachers take it upon themselves to improve you to the best of their abilities. Jon really put a lot of focus in getting my grades and ACT scores up and it really meant a lot to me. Jennifer, Danny, Chris, Sameer, and Victor also deserve special mention. Counselors are very resourceful and basically are with you the whole step of the way through your application process like essay editing. If you’re going to HS2 you’re already winning!
Dennis Liu Sunny Hills High School HS2 greatly reduced the stress in the college application process. They helped me push through the daunting task of applications and essays and recommendations. Without HS2, I probably would have made uninformed college decisions. I might have never known about Colgate University or many schools all across the nation that I could be happy with. I also would not have applied to nearly as many schools and I definitely do not regret applying to 20 schools.

Mom: Organizing every step of the college admissions process was extremely helpful. Homework assistance was also very helpful in a stressful time of his life.

C.J.K. Cleveland High School I would not have been able to accomplish this much thus far without the support and guidance of HS2. I got accepted into more colleges than I ever expected, and I am leaving HS2 with feelings of satisfaction and confidence for the future.
Clara Song Diamond Bar High School First of all, I’ve wondered what counseling can do for me and help get in to college which is an independent thing but after I have entered I’ve noticed this is what had help get into college. Since I came at a late time (junior) compared to others my GPA and overall SAT scores were pretty low. I was introduced to Catherine and I was able to start right away on what I need to prepare for college applications. Although there were a lot of students she was able to stick to my back and help me get through what I need to know and what I need to have in order to have a successful admission. The counseling helped me with essays and also having little chit-chats in order to talk about college and what lays ahead. Catherine might have had a hard time running all over the place trying to get students to turn things on time but she never lost a student! If it wasn’t for college counseling had Harvard Square I might be still lost as a little girl as to applying for college.
J.C. Walnut High School I’m really glad that I took college counseling because Catherine helped me a lot and answered a lot of my ambiguous miscellaneous questions about college applications. I also had a better gist of what colleges actually look for and what is allowed instead of the rumors you hear about how many times you can take SAT and whatnot. Overall, I’m really impressed with the help I got from college counseling, and I got into a school that I couldn’t be any more happy with!
N.C. Walnut High School HS2 college counseling was really helpful with answering questions and with essay editing. It also showed me what to do on my applications because I would’ve probably completely messed up without it! I definitely am glad that I had college counseling because now I am going to go to UCLA, which is my dream school! 🙂

  1. Eric Tsai SAT 2400 – how can you say it’s your effort help her?

    • Hi, I don’t really understand your question. Are you asking if we helped Erica to achieve her SAT 2400 or you are saying if she has SAT 2400, she would have gone into Princeton anyway? Basically, this testimony came from Erica and her father, we couldn’t really ask them to do this if they were not happy with our services. Just for your information, lots of students with perfect SAT score get rejected by the Ivies every year. Thanks!

  2. I knew Erica Tsai and she got 2400 before she went to your institute. So yes the question was how could you claim it’s your effort that helped her. It’s the first year for Princeton to accept EA students so their EA admission rate was particularly higher than any year. I’m glad Erica got in; yet, I doubt she could have got in anyway.

  3. I mean, “I suspect she could get in anyway…”

    • Hi, it is your opinion and I respect it. However, you didn’t work with Erica and you probably don’t know her whole story. The thing is that Erica and her parents certainly appreciated our services. BTW, do you happen to be one of our fellow educators?

  4. I know them personally and I know they worked with you; but I’m not convinced it’s your consultants who really made the difference. Erica is an exceptional student to begin with. She got perfect scores and actively involved in many activities. That’s the point I want to make; and so I questioned.

    • You are entitled to your own opinion but facts are facts. The testimonials were given at free will. If you have issues with Erica’s testimony, pls inquire Erica directly. I don’t think it is necessary for me to prove my many achievements to you.

  5. I won’t tell Erica “you could have done better”; because Princeton is a good school. But I have my perspective because I am also a parent and I need to evaluate your institute and see whether it could fit for my situation. My son is also an excellent student; on paper, close to Erica but not as perfect. If with what Erica brought on the table, you helped her to get in Princeton (really, in my opinion, she could have got on her own), but not other top ones but CalTech (which takes almost any top girls), I am not convinced this is really that effective. That’s my concern. I want you to be as achieved as you claim; but now I don’t think so. Not trying to give you a hard time, but please understand a parent’s perspective.

    • Hi, Erica’s case is actually not that “perfect” as you think it is. However, I cannot release her case information to you. Anyway, good luck to your son, I wish the best for him. Thanks!
