超越藤校的八年直升醫學院課程
有些大學的特定專業錄取上是比藤校都難的, 但是無論如何都絕對比不上七或八年的直升醫學院也就是高中生可以直接申請的醫學院課程. 事實上, 在全美國大概只有四十幾所大學有提供這類課程, 而每所學校每年招生名額幾乎都不會超過二十個學生, 有些學校的名額更是只有個位數字. 不僅如此限量, 許多學校又希望盡量把位子留給本州居民. 因此這類的申請可以說是我們這個行業最高等級的挑戰任務, 之前的每一年我們的學生也都有一些進到這種課程的案例, 但是今年可真的破了紀錄, 目前我們已收穫了三個這種鑽石級的錄取.
我們今天剛收到的這個好消息是我們的一位學生成功進入了 Rice/Baylor University BA+MD program 萊斯/貝勒大學八年醫學院. 這個課程今年全美國只錄取了六名學生, 我想我真的不用多做解釋, 這個絕對是難中之難, 可說是不可能的任務啊! 這不就是我們實力展現的最佳證明嗎？
由於名額實在太少, 申請時除了要呈現最優秀的申請條件外, 學生的申請資料是至關重要的。學生必須要通過申請自傳和經歷來展示對這個領域的熱情，並向審核部展示自己有足夠的基礎成熟度和動力去攻讀並完成這個課程. 這個部分實際上對亞裔學生是比較重要的, 因為根據統計, 亞裔學生讀醫學院半途而廢的比例很高. 這個主要是由於許多亞裔學生一開始進入醫學院是基於父母與文化上的期望, 而不完全是自己的夢想.
高中生直接申請七或八年的直升醫學院時, 除了要了解這是個終極挑戰, 更要知道這個選擇也代表你接下來就必須花費你七或八年的人生去完成這個課程。但是由於是直通車, 當然也是真正想要投身醫學工作的學生最佳的選擇, 可以除去很多拐彎抹角浪費時間的麻煩. 以下是有提供這種課程的學校, 實在是不多.
